Arcucci Ceramics

Ceramics or majolica comes from Mallorca, where the Arabs implanted a vast production made of land. The earth is the paste that makes up the clay, the earth are the glazes and paints, the earth are the coloring pigments. The earth is the dry and cold element that willingly joins the other cold but humid element which is water. Water purifies the earth, frees it from impure waste, makes it plastic and malleable, suitable for both an artistic will and an industrial need. Like Porcelain, it undergoes the first firing to become a biscuit at 750-800 ° C, before being glazed and subjected to a new firing at 850-1100 ° C. The use of lower temperatures allows the majolica or ceramic to produce bright and bright colors and glazes.

The cups and plates are usually made on a lathe or press. Today they are normally pressed with sophisticated automatic equipment. Coffee pots, jugs, sugar bowls or oval pieces are made by casting. Forms of gypsum are used both for turning, for the press, and for casting, this material, in fact, absorbs the water of the wet mass. The ceramic body then contracts and can therefore be easily pulled out of the mold. This process requires both skill and accuracy, as well as special technical training.

Our Arcucci ceramic is made by reaching the highest temperatures allowed and this gives our objects brilliance and variety of colors. It is also combined with such strength that it can be safely used in dishwashers, microwaves and is very resistant to shocks. The earth and water are therefore like the substance and soul of ceramics. The other two elements that intervene in the work, air and fire, are emanations of a spirit that acts on the multiple transformations of matter. To conclude, however, it is important to be aware that the effect of an orderly relationship of everything expressed.
